Vancouver's best restaurants have been put to the test when it comes to the coveted Michelin Star awards, which are getting a refresh on October 3.
Some say locals know best though, so we turned to them to see which restaurants in Vancouver they think deserve a place in the legendary guide. From hidden gems to award-winning spots, these Vancouver restaurants were praised by locals.
With the upcoming Michelin Guide ceremony, we'll have to wait and see if any of these places get a Star. Whether or not they get the international recognition though, these tasty spots hold a special place in the heart of Vancouverites.
The Lunch Lady

Why You Need to Go: This spot has earned a place on the Michelin Bib Gourmand list, although it's yet to get that Star yet. Locals say that it should though, and it's easy to see why.
The East Vancouver restaurant is bustling thanks to the mouth-watering menu filled with Vietnamese flavours. Named after the world-famous Lunch Lady – who refined the menu herself — the restaurant has earned many awards and international praise already.
Delara

Why You Need to Go: Serving up modern Persian food, Delara is brimming with delicious seasonal ingredients that make it a favourite among locals. This restaurant is recommended by the Michelin Guide, but again hasn't been awarded the Star yet.
You can get a tasty brunch here with dishes like Mina's Chicken and Barley Soup — which is a recipe from the Chef's mom — and a Persian Breakfast. They also have lunch and dinner menus, and even a happy hour from 3 to 5 p.m. if you're looking for a deal.
Miku

Why You Need to Go: Here's another Michelin Recc that locals think deserves a Star.
At Miku you can enjoy a plate of truly incredible sushi with a stunning view of the Vancouver Harbour at their waterfront location, making the experience that much better.
Think fresh and regional ingredients and top-tier seafood wrapped up into mouthwatering creations. Visit midday and enjoy their Lunch Shokai, which lets you try out 10 pieces of traditional and Aburi Oshi sushi, nigiri and rolls — you won't be disappointed.
Northern Cafe and Grill

Why You Need to Go: Northern Cafe and Grill was ranked as the best place to eat in Canada in 2023, by Yelp, so it makes sense that it's beloved among locals. The classic diner setting offers up some nostalgia along with their Asian Fusion comfort food, and it's a good deal too. The menu is reasonably priced and full of family recipes made with locally sourced ingredients, and it's all topped off with the cozy setting.
Get an all-day breakfast here with classics like Corn Beef Hash, opt for a burger and fries, or go for the Wonton Soup and some Housemade Pork Potstickers.
Blue Water Cafe

Why You Need to Go: This is yet another Michelin Guide recommendation that locals love. Suyo is a Peruvian spot with a unique interior and a menu that will have you booking a reservation ASAP.
Stunning greenery fills up the restaurant, alongside a sleek interior that creates a cool atmosphere, but the food looks even better than the setting.
