Several foods are being recalled in Canada including from No Name, PC & Great Value
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has recently issued a fresh wave of food recall alerts for products sold across Canada. This time, the recalls include popular products such as Wonder bread and Sifto salt as well as items from grocery chain house labels like Loblaw's No Name and President's Choice (PC) and Walmart's Great Value.
From bread and buns to specialty products like olives, salt and — you guessed it — even more frozen waffles, these recalls have been prompted by serious safety concerns like the potential presence of metal, glass and harmful bacteria like listeria.
This marks the fourth release of frozen waffle recalls due to potential listeria contamination since October 21 — although the recalling firm for this particular brand of waffles differs from those of the earlier recalls. While it's unclear whether these incidents are connected, they highlight the importance of being vigilant about food safety.
The CFIA advises consumers to check their kitchens for these recalled products and either dispose of them or return them to the store where they were purchased for a refund or exchange.
Here's a closer look at which products are affected and why they've been pulled from shelves.

As of now, there have been no reported illnesses tied to this product, but consumers are urged to check their freezers and dispose of or return any recalled waffles to the store of purchase. The CFIA notes that even if food contaminated with listeria appears normal, it can still be harmful, especially for pregnant women, older adults and those with weakened immune systems.
This latest frozen waffle recall, originally published on October 28, marks the fourth listeria-related recall involving frozen waffles in just over a week — although the recalling firms are not all the same. On October 21, the first frozen waffle recall involving 27 products sold under five different grocery chain house labels was released by TreeHouse Foods. The next day, TreeHouse Foods expanded its recall to cover 28 more products and five additional brands. Then, on October 25, Horizon Distributors Ltd issued a recall for certain 365 Whole Foods Market brand waffles.
