If you've stocked up on frozen waffles or pancakes recently, you might want to double-check your freezer. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) recently issued an expanded recall warning after the frozen waffle recall in Canada earlier this week, and it now includes even more frozen products at risk for listeria contamination.

The recall originally included several popular Canadian house-label frozen waffles, but it's now expanded to cover frozen pancakes and more brands.

The new list from manufacturer TreeHouse Foods includes products from President's Choice, Duncan Hines, Nature's Path Organic, Irresistibles Life Smart and Gordon Choice. You'll also find additional varieties under the original brands flagged in the first recall, which included No Name, Great Value, Compliments, Selection and Western Family.

Several gluten-free options are now impacted, as well as more flavours and varieties, so it's a good idea to check any frozen breakfast items you have to be safe.

The expanded recall was triggered after additional contamination risks were identified during a company food safety investigation, according to the CFIA. The federal agency says it's monitoring the situation to make sure these products are removed from shelves across Canada.

Listeria contamination can be serious, especially for young children, the elderly and people with compromised immune systems, the CFIA warns. Symptoms can include nausea, vomiting, persistent fever and muscle aches.

Although no illnesses have been reported with this recall, it's best to avoid taking any risks by getting rid of any affected products. The CFIA recommends either discarding these items or returning them to the store for a refund.
