If you've stocked up on frozen waffles or pancakes recently, you might want to double-check your freezer. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) recently issued an expanded recall warning after the frozen waffle recall in Canada earlier this week, and it now includes even more frozen products at risk for listeria contamination.

The recall originally included several popular Canadian house-label frozen waffles, but it's now expanded to cover frozen pancakes and more brands.

If you've got waffles in your freezer, you might want to take a closer look. Hundreds of varieties of frozen waffles — including many sold in Canada by major grocery chains like Walmart, Loblaws, Metro, Sobeys and Save-on-Foods — are being recalled due to a potential listeria contamination.

Several of the products involved in this frozen waffle recall are sold under the house brands of major Canadian grocery stores like Walmart's Great Value brand, Loblaw's No Name label, Sobeys' Compliments brand, Metro's Selection label and Save-on-Foods' Western Family brand.

Quelques jours après que l'Agence canadienne d'inspection des aliments (ACIA) ait procédé à un important rappel de boissons végétales des marques Silk et Great Value, on apprend que deux personnes au Canada sont décédées en raison d'une possible contamination par la bactérie Listeria monocytogenes. De plus, un.e Québécois.e fait partie des douze malades dénombré.e.s à travers le pays. D'où l'importance de vérifier ton frigo et de jeter les produits concernés.

Le 8 juillet dernier, l'ACIA a émis cet avertissement à la suite de renseignements obtenus au cours d’une enquête sur une éclosion de maladie d’origine alimentaire. Depuis, un total de douze Canadien.ne.s ont été malades, dont dix en Ontario (y compris les 2 décès, confirmés par le ministère de la Santé de l'Ontario), un.e au Québec ainsi qu'une autre personne en Nouvelle-Écosse. De plus, neuf d'entre elles ont été hospitalisées, a annoncé l’Agence de la santé publique du Canada le 17 juillet.
