This Ontario City Was Named One Of Canada's 'Christmas Capitals' & It's A Holiday Wonderland
You don't have to travel to the North Pole to fill up on Christmas cheer. Canada has so many spots that are brimming with holiday enchantment where you can enjoy the season to the fullest.
Best Casino Sites recently published a study on the Canadian cities with the most Christmas spirit and an Ontario spot ranked near the top of the list.
Barrie, Ontario was named Canada's second cheeriest city out of the 20 spots included in the list. The city, which Best Casino Sites dubbed one of the country's "Christmas Capitals," is located just North of Toronto and scored 62 out of 75 for holiday cheer.
The area is home to several events and attractions to enjoy during the holiday season. You can see an array of dazzling displays at Magic of Lights Barrie, a drive-thru experience featuring over a mile of glittering installations.
You can also head to the nearby Holiday Market at Friday Harbour which features European vibes, vendors, lights and more.
The top city in Canada for Christmas cheer is Halifax which scored 65 out of 75. With lots of community events and light displays, this city is a must-visit for festive fun.
Several other Ontario cities made the list of Canada's "Christmas Capitals." Ottawa, Kingston, Windsor, Niagara Falls, Toronto and Kitchener-Cambridge-Waterloo all scored within the top 10.
To determine which Canadian cities boast the most Christmas vibes, the study took into account local events and tracked holiday hashtags on social media for the top 25 cities (by population) during the 2023/2024 season.
It also looked at spending estimates and ranked the cities based on how much residents were participating festive fun and gift-giving.
