If you're in the process of renting a Toronto apartment with a roommate, the market in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) just got pricier.

Rents for roommate accommodations picked up steam across Canada for the second straight month in July. Rentals.ca and Urbanation reported on August 10 that average asking rents for shared accommodations across the provinces of Ontario, B.C., Quebec, and Alberta jointly grew by 16.1% over the past year to $971 per month.
