One Of The World's 'Most Beautiful Places To Propose' Is In Canada & It's A Breathtaking Spot
Getting engaged is one of those moments you'll never forget — and it calls for a beautiful location to go with the milestone moment.
Canada is home to so many beautiful locations that would be perfect for popping the question, so it can definitely be hard to pick the perfect spot.
However, a Canadian destination has just been named one of the best places in the world to propose, and it offers breathtaking views and a quieter vibe for an intimate proposal.
Condé Nast Traveler has named 26 of the most beautiful places to propose in the world, from Greek islands to mesmerizing lakes.
Only one Canadian destination made the list — located on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia's Skyline Trail was named the best place to propose in Canada by the outlet.
The Skyline Trail is a popular hiking spot in Cape Breton Highlands National Park, found along the famous Cabot Trail.
The trail was listed alongside stunning destinations like Pyrgos Castle in Santorini, Greece, and Turtle Island in Fiji as one of the world's best places to pop the question.
The trail is about a 6.5-kilometre return hike, offering incredible views of Cape Breton Island's winding roads, mountains, and rugged coastline.
According to Cape Breton Tourism, an early morning or an evening hike here is best, with these times offering fewer visitors on the trail. If you're doing an evening hike, you’ll get to witness a spectacular sunset from the trail and the sun dips over the ocean.
The area is gorgeous to visit in the summer, but fall offers a chance to see the incredible changing leaves from this lookout point.
"Go at the start of autumn for trees washed in gold and red hues, and find a quiet spot to pop the question. Afterwards, drive north to The Sea Shack takeout at the northernmost tip of the peninsula for a fresh lobster roll," says Condé Nast Traveler.
Since the trail is located in a national park, you will have to pay an admission fee to visit.
However, the views definitely seem worth it — from the trail, you can take in ocean vistas, and may be able to spot whales, different species of birds and even moose.
Whether you're proposing marriage or just want to visit with a loved one, the trail is definitely romantic. For lovers of the outdoors, there are plenty of other nature experiences in the area, including hiking trails and stunning beaches.
If you're looking for other romantic places in Canada, a small town in Ontario was also recently named one of the world's best honeymoon spots in 2024 — something to keep in mind if the proposal goes well!
