Whether you're looking to shop, eat at a restaurant, watch fireworks or do something else on Victoria Day, you might be wondering what grocery stores, malls, restaurants, and attractions are open and closed.
Victoria Day is on May 20, 2024, and it's a stat holiday in Ontario which means most people have the day off work.
But that doesn't mean everything in the province is closed and there's nothing to do on Monday.
So, here's what's open and closed on Victoria Day in Ontario this year.
Grocery stores
Costco: Costco is closed on Victoria Day. So, you won't be able to shop at any locations in Ontario.
Walmart: A lot of Walmart locations in Ontario are open on Victoria Day, including:

Metro: While many Metro grocery stores are closed on the stat holiday, these are some that are open for shoppers:

La Carnita — Leslieville: Open on May 20 in Toronto. Plus, there are $9.99 cocktails when you order a prefix dinner!
Café Boulud: This French restaurant in the Four Seasons Hotel in Toronto is open to diners on Victoria Day.
Minami Restaurant: This Vancouver-based restaurant's location in Toronto is open.
Snug Harbour: You can dine at Snug Harbour, a seafood restaurant on Mississauga's waterfront, on Victoria Day.
Cocotte Bistro: Located in Ottawa Cocotte Bistro is accepting reservations for May 20.
Chubby's Jamaican Kitchen: This Toronto restaurant is open on Victoria Day and you can get food and drinks starting at $6 during Island Time Happy Hour.
LOUIX LOUIS: If you want to have brunch on Victoria Day, LOUIX LOUIS in Toronto is serving up Royal Brunch with smoked salmon and waffles, wagyu short-rib benedict, french toast bites and more.
Spencer's at the Waterfront: This steakhouse in Burlington is open on May 20.

Eaton Centre: Open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Victoria Day.
Yorkdale: Closed on Monday but some restaurants are open.
Sherway Gardens: Closed.
Rideau Centre: This mall in Ottawa is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Victoria Day.
Square One: Open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on May 20.
Bramalea City Centre: Open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Vaughan Mills: Open between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Victoria Day.
Toronto Premium Outlets: This shopping centre near Toronto is open from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Outlet Collection at Niagara: Open on May 20 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Oakville Place: Closed.
Shops at Don Mills: Closed on Victoria Day.
Upper Canada Mall: Open on Monday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Things to do
Royal Ontario Museum: The ROM is open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Victoria Day.
Casa Loma: You can visit Casa Loma from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
CN Tower: The CN Tower's main observation level is open between 9:30 a.m. and 9 p.m.
Ashbridges Bay Park: You can watch the fireworks display at Toronto's Ashbridges Bay Park on Monday, May 20 starting at 10 p.m.
Even if you can't get to the park, you can spot fireworks from other parts of the city's waterfront.
Canada's Wonderland: Open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on May 20.
National Gallery of Canada: This art gallery in Ottawa is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Victoria Day.
Canadian Museum of Nature: Open in Ottawa between 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Niagara Parks Power Station at Night: This electrifying nighttime experience at the Niagara Falls attraction is happening from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. on May 20.
Queen Victoria Park: Niagara's Queen Victoria Park is the place to see fireworks explode in the sky over the Horseshoe Falls.
On Victoria Day, the Niagara Falls fireworks display starts at 10 p.m.
Rouge National Urban Park: This national park — which borders Toronto, Markham, Pickering and Uxbridge — is open every day of the year.
There are more than a dozen hiking trails that you can try. Also, you can canoe, kayak and paddleboard the Rouge River.
Butterfly Conservatory: This conservatory in Niagara Falls is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday.
Services
Canada Post: Canada Post is closed on national, provincial and territorial holidays with no collection or delivery of mail.
So, there is no mail delivery or collection on Victoria Day.
Banks: Bank branches are closed on Victoria Day.
However, you can still withdraw cash from ATMs and access your accounts, pay bills, and more with online banking on the stat holiday.
ServiceOntario: Closed on Victoria Day.
Since certain ServiceOntario services are online now — including driver's licence, licence plate, and health card renewals — you can still access service when centres are closed on May 20.
Service Canada: Locations in Ontario are closed on Victoria Day.
Transit
TTC: All TTC routes are operating on a Sunday service schedule for Victoria Day but starting earlier at approximately 6 a.m.
If a route doesn't normally operate on Sundays, there is no service on May 20.
GO Transit: Service is running according to the Saturday schedule for each route on Victoria Day.
Some GO Transit routes don't have weekend service so you might not be able to take some routes.
