You Could End Up Waiting Weeks For A Shoppers COVID-19 Test In Toronto

One pharmacy is booked solid for almost two weeks.
Contributor

Since opening last month, COVID-19 tests at Shoppers Drug Mart have booked up fast in Toronto.

So quickly, in fact, that it could take weeks to find a single opening at some of the busier pharmacies in the city.

And you can certainly expect to wait a while for your results.

4-5 Days to receive test results back at Toronto locations

Today, Narcity got nine busy signals before reaching Shoppers Drug Mart at Empress Walk.

The pharmacist at this location said that this week is fully booked and that there is already a "long waiting list" for next week.

Upon getting in touch with a Rosedale-area pharmacy, Narcity was told that, while appointments were available, it would be up to a week to get results back.

Wait times for test results are just as long at the Meadowvale Town Centre Shoppers in Mississauga.

The introduction of asymptomatic COVID-19 testing at pharmacies in Ontario is meant to alleviate pressure on other testing facilities.

These sites have been completely overwhelmed in recent weeks, reaching capacity before they even open for the day.
