Sarah, Dan and Eugene want to let the flags fly! 🌈

An LGBTQ2S+ advocacy group called Free Mom Hugs Southern Ontario has reached out to the Levy family to spread awareness about a petition created by parents, staff, and students.

The petition, which asks Halton Catholic District School Board to allow schools to fly the Pride flag during Pride Month in June, was noticed by Dan, Sarah, and Eugene Levy, who responded by showing their support via Twitter.

"Halton Catholic District School Board becomes an increasingly diverse Catholic Community. Notably, we have students, staff, and parents who are a part of the 2SLGBTQ+ community. To support our fellow community members, please sign this petition to show your support in Flying the Flag with Pride during the Pride Month," says the online petition, which has amassed over 14,000 signatures at the time of publication.

"As if this even needs to be voted on. Let's get out of the dark ages and LET THE FLAGS FLY," wrote Sarah Levy, which Dan retweeted. Their dad Eugene Levy responded with, "Well said, Sarah!"

The Levys are known for their involvement in Canadian initiatives — back in 2020, Dan Levy encouraged more than 200,000 people to join him by taking the Indigenous Canada course at the University of Alberta, which offers 12 lessons about contemporary issues from an Indigenous perspective.
