A package theft gone wrong led to the arrest of a 33-year-old man on Monday afternoon.

The man attempted to steal a package from a Mississauga residence at approximately 2:40 p.m. on January 4, Peel Police told Narcity. The package thief got stuck in the snow as he got in his car and tried to make his getaway.

In the video, the man can be seen trying to drive away before reversing into a pile of snow and getting very stuck.

He attempts to push his Toyota Yaris out of the snow pile, and then gets on the ground and starts trying to dig his way out.

Additional footage of the incident posted by Instagram account straightouttatha6ixtv shows the thief's vehicle flanked by two police cruisers.

He's then forced out of the car by several officers and arrested.

Peel Police confirmed to Narcity that the man, a resident of Brampton, was arrested and charged with one count of fraud and one count of theft.

He was released on conditions and will be summoned to the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on a later date.

The incident occurred in the Churchill Meadows Blvd. and Erin Centre Blvd. area of Mississauga.
