A Huge York University Campus Is Being Built In Markham Right Now

It will fit over 4,000 students.

The provincial government has just announced that one Ontario university is about to get a major expansion. York University in Markham is getting a new campus that will fit 4,200 new students. 

In a press conference on Friday, Doug Ford announced that construction for the new Markam Centre Campus will begin this month.

Markham Centre Campus opening date

The new space, which will be over 400,000 square feet is set to open in the fall of 2023. 

Students will be able to take a variety of classes on the new campus, including "high-demand fields" like technology, data science and entrepreneurship. 

The new construction plan will also create over 2,000 new jobs, according to the government.
