You may need to change your plans, O-Town. Thanksgiving in Ottawa is going to look a little different this year, as the city’s top doctor has urged locals to stay at home to celebrate.

Speaking on Newstalk 580 on Wednesday, per CTV News, Dr. Vera Etches addressed the worsening COVID-19 situation in Ottawa.

Describing the current circumstances as “critical,” she said that Ottawans should only celebrate Thanksgiving with the people they live with.

Dr. Etches added that people who live alone can still have “one or two” guests for Thanksgiving.

She continued, “But not different households gathering, not multiple different gatherings across different days. We really need to stick with the people we live with."

Her comments come as the city broke its daily COVID-19 case record on Tuesday.

Despite the more-serious advice given by Dr. Eches on September 30, she also shared a hilarious confession on the same day.

Via Twitter, she revealed that she’d accidentally gone to work with no skirt on Wednesday — a revelation that prompted the best response from Ottawa Public Health.
