Trudeau Says It's 'All Too Likely' Canadians Won't Get Together At Thanksgiving

"We still have a shot at Christmas."

Canada is still fighting back against COVID-19, and it is an uphill battle. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that rising case numbers mean it is likely that Canadians won't be able to gather for Thanksgiving.

During a September 23 address, Trudeau stated that the country is now in the second wave of the pandemic, and that while the next big holiday might be out of the question, working together might mean celebrating together in December.

It's all too likely we won't be gathering for Thanksgiving, but we still have a shot at Christmas.

COVID-19 has been on the rise again in Canada, with daily cases spiking nearly 75% since the beginning of September.

Current modelling shows that the country could reach 5,000 cases a day in October if we stay on the current contact rate.

People under the age of 40 now make up just over 40% of the country's cases, and the Chief Public Health Officer has asked for their help in keeping things from getting worse.
