Statistics Canada Is Hiring Across The Country & You Just Need To Know How To Use A Mouse

Almost no experience and it pays up to $51,000.
Senior Writer

Do you know how to use a mouse? That's one of the requirements for these government of Canada jobs that are being filled right now and you basically need no experience. If you get the job, you would be helping out with the 2021 census.

Statistics Canada is hiring for 72 administrative assistant positions for next year's census with work happening between October 2020 and August 2021.

The salary is between $47,729 and $51,518.

With these jobs, you would be working exclusively from home and not in an actual workplace like an office building.

What are the requirements?

However, you do have to live within an 80-kilometre radius of the areas that Statistics Canada is looking to hire from.

When it comes to requirements, there aren't actually that many needed for you to be considered.

You need to have completed two years of secondary school or have an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Also, you need to have experience with general administrative support in an office and basic computer functions.

That means operating a mouse, using a keyboard, opening and closing and finding software programs and files.

At a later date, your ability to communicate in writing, work in a team, adapt to changing priorities and respect deadlines will be looked at.

Applications for these positions close on October 31 at 12:59 p.m. PT.

Who can apply?

Since this is for the census, which is a snapshot of the population, positions are available across the country from east to west and north to south.

Statistics Canada is looking for people in every single province and territory.

If you want to apply, you could be considered no matter where you live in the country.

What happens after I get hired?

If you get hired, your duties would include having great attention to detail, scheduling and organizing any type of activity or calendar, working in a high-paced environment, communicating efficiently, working with a computer and different software programs.

You also need to have reliable internet access at your home and have a private space where you can make confidential phone calls.

There are a bunch of other jobs available for Canadians with little to no experience required, like a post office assistant with Canada Post.

Some in Ottawa pay up to $22 an hour and some in Vancouver are perfect for dog lovers.
