A new Netflix series will begin filming in Alberta in May and the production team is looking for extras.

The Western series has a star-studded cast, including The Crown's Gillian Anderson and Game of Thrones actress Lena Headey, and you can also be in it.

The Abandons is a Western series set in the 1850s.

According to Variety, the series is about "a group of diverse, outlier families [who] pursue their Manifest Destiny in 1850s Oregon, [and] a corrupt force of wealth and power, coveting their land, tries to force them out."

Netflix says Headey will play Fiona Nolan, "a strong-willed matriarch who adopts four orphans and will stop at nothing to protect her family."

Anderson will play Constance Van Ness "who will stop at nothing to protect and grow the mining fortune she inherited from her husband."

The cast also includes Love, Simon actor Nick Robinson and Ozark's Mark Menchaca.

Keep Alberta Rolling shared the casting call in a social media post outlining the extras Netflix is looking for in its open casting call.

"We are looking for authentic-looks, unique character faces, hard-working types, blue collar looks, blacksmiths, rancher types, labourer types, butchers, upscale affluent looks & amputees," the post reads.

"Looking for men, women, & children 8 - 80 years of age. Open to all Ethnicities Caucasian, First Nations, Black, Asian & Hispanic."

The casting call will be held in person on April 6 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Double Tree by Hilton Calgary North in the Cascade Room.

Anyone unable to attend the casting call can email Classic Casting a current photo and their contact information to abandons.extras@gmail.com.

The series will begin filming in Calgary and surrounding areas from May 14 to October 17, 2024.
