Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's new movie will begin filming in Vancouver this spring and the production team has put out an open casting call for Canadians.

The open casting call is for five different roles and there is no acting experience required for any of them.

Kris & Kara Casting, a casting company based in Vancouver, shared the details of the casting call online and it says each one is a paid opportunity for those who end up being cast in the film.

The casting call is for the A24 MMA biopic The Smashing Machine.

According to Variety, the film is based on the story of Mark Kerr, "the legendary MMA fighter from the no-holds-barred era of the UFC at the peak of his career."

The Rock will star as Kerr in the film and Emily Blunt is also in talks to star alongside Johnson as Kerr's wife, Dawn Staples.

Benny Safdie will be directing the film.

Ahead of its filming start date in May 2024, the production is looking to fill multiple positions.

The casting call says no prior acting experience is necessary (actors and non-actors can both apply) and anyone who is cast will be paid as per the UBCP rates.

Shoot dates are currently scheduled between May 20, 2024 and the beginning of August 2024.

The casting team asks that everyone who is considering applying read the instructions in the application thoroughly so that nothing is missed.

The application process consists of a form that must be filled out, which has standard questions like your full name, where you live, your height, weight, social media handles, whether you can work legally in Canada and your contact information.

There is also a video and photo section. Each interview video has certain requirements including that you keep it under eight minutes long, having someone ask you the questions off-screen, filming it horizontally and in a natural environment rather than a film studio.

Depending on the role you apply for, filming will take place in Vancouver, the U.S. or Tokyo, Japan.

Anyone interested in applying for any of these roles is encouraged to get their application in as soon as possible.

Here's everything you need to know about the roles and how to apply to each one of them.

The role of combat sports fighters is open to males of any ethnicity who are between their 20s and 50s. All types of combat fighters are encouraged to apply (active or retired).
