The Canada Summer Jobs program is open now, with hiring underway for positions across the country.

You can make more than minimum wage, and so many jobs even pay over $20 an hour.

This year, the federal government expects that 70,000 jobs will be available with the Canada Summer Jobs program in areas like recreation, landscaping, hospitality, marketing, tourism, farming and more.

The program officially launched on Monday, April 21, and new jobs will be added to the program's job bank until Monday, July 21.

It's meant to provide quality summer work experiences to develop and improve skills and inform education, training and career choices.

You're eligible for a Canada Summer Jobs position if you:

  • are between 15 and 30 years old at the start of employment
  • are a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment
  • are legally entitled to work according to provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

International students aren't eligible for the Canada Summer Jobs program.

Canada Summer Jobs positions are full-time — 30 to 40 hours per week — and can last from six to 16 weeks.

You can find positions as they become available on the Government of Canada's Youth Job Bank site and Job Bank app.
