Trudeau Says A New Governor General Will Come 'In Due Course' & Twitter Users Have Ideas

As Canada's governor general resigns, Justin Trudeau has said that a new one will be named "in due course" and some Twitter users already have ideas about who should get the job.

Julie Payette stepped down on January 21 after a formal review into allegations of a toxic work environment at Rideau Hall and Trudeau received her resignation.

Quite a few people on Twitter have suggested that former astronaut Chris Hadfield be named the new governor general of Canada, which isn't an out of this world ideas as Payette was also an astronaut.

Some have also suggested Don Cherry and this person used that to take a swipe at former Conservative MP Derek Sloan.

Canadian comedian Mark Critch put in his picks for governor general, former Chief Justice of Canada Beverley McLachlin or National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations Perry Bellegarde.

Someone also nominated Eugene Levy as the person who should get the job.

NDP MP Charlie Angus tweeted that the position should be given to William Shatner and gave the Star Trek character's resume as reasons why.
