Dan Levy Calls Out Realtor Whose Tenants Got Evicted After Carbon Monoxide Threat

Schitt's Creek star Dan Levy is supporting a group of nine Toronto tenants who were evicted on March 12 after the City of Toronto said their apartments had “serious life safety issues."

The City was alerted to the zoning issues after a tenant complained about potentially unsafe levels of carbon monoxide in their residential units which reside over an auto-repair garage in the Junction Triangle.

The units on 1405 Bloor St. W. are located above an auto garage, which is "strictly" prohibited in Toronto, according to a spokesperson from the City. The buildings were also missing two exit paths, another "critical fire safety requirement."*

Levy called out the property manager on Twitter on Monday, March 15.

"How is this legal?" asked Levy, responding to a tweet calling out Brad J. Lamb, the building's landlord, for putting his tenants in serious danger.

And Michael Seater — one of the tenants and the former star of Family Channel show Life With Derek — responded to Dan Levy's tweet with a few kissing emojis.

A representative for Brad J. Lamb Realty Group said the group offers its "deepest sympathies" to the tenants and has offered to repay moving expenses.

UPDATE: In an email shared with Narcity, landlord Brad J. Lamb and the tenants released a joint statement on March 26, 2021, which explained that both parties have come together to “settle their affairs” and reach a “mutually satisfactory agreement” to recover the costs of the abrupt move and resettlement.
