McDonald's Canada is bringing back the McRib and people across the country are so excited for its return.

The fast food chain announced on Thursday that an iconic menu item is making a comeback in Canada, and people across the nation will finally be able to get their hands on the sandwich after a 10-year hiatus.

Why you should care: McDonald's fans across Canada simply cannot wait after discovering that the McRib will be back in participating Canadian stores next week because the sandwich is darn good.

In fact, a McRib fan commented on McDonald's Instagram post about the announcement saying they are "almost in tears" over it.

The sandwich will be back in participating locations on January 30, but only for a limited time.

What they're saying: "In the last year alone, our team received thousands of inquiries on social media from very passionate Canadian McRib fans asking to bring it back here," Alyssa Buetikofer, Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at McDonald's Canada, said in a press release.

"The McRib is truly a fan favourite. It appeals to guests of all ages—from loyal followers who have patiently waited a decade for its return, to our newer fans who have only heard the legend," Buetikofer added.

ICYMI: The McRib was last seen in a Canadian McDonald's in 2014, but ever since its departure, it's been a sandwich Canucks have been begging to bring back.

The McRib consists of boneless pork dipped in a tangy BBQ sauce. It's topped with onions and pickles and served on a toasted homestyle bun.

Fun fact for those that didn't know — the meat in the McRib was invented by Professor Roger Mandingo of the University of Nebraska in 1972 when they worked on a process to make "restructured meats."

It's basically "small pieces of meat together in different shapes using salt and mechanical action," History Nebraska shared.

Fans all over the internet were super excited when McDonald's Canada hinted about the McRibs return this week and are even more excited today.

"Mc Rib I'll accept you with a side part and skinny jeans. Just come back to me," someone shared in McDonald's Canada's latest Instagram post.

"Welcome back! Now get in ma belly!!😂😂," another said.

"THIS BETTER NOT BE A JOKE @mcdonaldscanada been waiting for this for EONS," a fan commented on the Instagram post, to which McDonald's responded by saying, "There's a time to joke, and this is not the time."

What comes next: On January 30, you can head to a participating McDonald's, get your hands on the BBQ-flavoured pork sandwich and thank social media's persistence for its return. But it's only back for a limited time, so make it count.
