Vankleek Hill is an enchanting little village about an hour from Ottawa. According to the website, it's been dubbed the "Gingerbread Capital of Ontario" due to the decorative gingerbread-style trim that adorns its Victorian-era homes.

You can wander the cozy streets and check out the town's cute shops and cafes. From clothing boutiques to soap stores, there's something for everyone.

The town is home to a series of murals that reflect its history, so keep an eye out for these beautiful paintings as you stroll around the downtown.

You'll also want to stop by the Higginson Tower — a historic structure that once operated as a wind-powered grist mill. While there, you can check out the Arbor Gallery to see works from local artists.

The Farmers' Market runs on Saturday mornings year-round and is a charming place to shop.

In May, the Vankleek Hill Tulip Fields will open, allowing you to wander through rows of pastel blooms.

Located at Ouimet Farms, the pick-your-own experience is a magical way to get into the spring spirit.
