Ontarians can get Canada's new coin that's blue, yellow and orange by trading their old coins
You don't have to wait to find Canada's new coin in your change.
That's because you can trade in your old coins and bills to get the blue, yellow and orange toonie!
In Ontario, the Royal Canadian Mint is hosting coin exchanges for commemorative circulation coins, including the new $2 coin honouring Daphne Odjig.
This new Canadian coin is literally a piece of art because it features Odjig's 1977 artwork "The Folk Singer."
It has blue, yellow and orange colour enhancements on the inner core of the toonie.
You can also get the $1 coin for the 150th anniversary of the Supreme Court of Canada, which was released earlier this year, at these coin exchanges.
The loonie features an engraving of the exterior façade of the Supreme Court building.
It includes the 150th anniversary logo, a dark blue circle with the inscription "150" that has a white laurel branch stemming from it.
Coin exchanges are cash-only transactions, and any Canadian circulation coin or banknote denomination is acceptable.
So, you can get the new Canadian coins by trading in your coins and bills, while supplies last.
These are equivalent cash exchanges, which means you must have $2 worth of loonies, quarters, dimes, and so on to get a toonie.
If you bring in a $5 bill, you could get two Daphne Odjig toonies and one Supreme Court of Canada loonie.
Since quantities of the commemorative circulation coins are limited, each person will only be allowed to exchange for a certain number of coins.
There is no admission charge to participate in any of the Mint's coin exchange events.
The Royal Canadian Mint coin exchange in Hamilton is happening at Canada Gold in The Centre on Barton at 1241 Barton Street East.
You can trade in your old coins and bills from September 26 to September 27 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
At the Royal Canadian Mint Boutique at 320 Sussex Drive in Ottawa, you can get the new circulation coins from October 17 to October 19 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
A coin exchange is also happening in Nepean at the Canada Post in the Rexall store located at 6-900 Greenbank Road.
You can trade your coins and bills for the Daphne Odjig toonie and Supreme Court loonie on October 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Royal Canadian Mint will be at the Canada Post in the Rexall store at 666 Woolwich Street in Guelph.
You can get the new circulation coins on October 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
