Someone was trapped in an elevator at an OC Transpo station in downtown Ottawa, and firefighters had to use ropes to rappel down and bring the passenger up to safety.

On Sunday, August 21, Ottawa Fire Services tweet that they arrived at the Parliament OC Transpo station on Queen Street, between Bank and O'Connor streets, after getting a report that someone was stranded in an elevator. It took them about five minutes to get there after they got the call from OC Transpo.

On Friday, Big Brother Canada's Steven "Gino" Giannopoulos helped rescue a panicking cat from a hot roof in Ottawa.
In a photo posted to Twitter by Ottawa Fire Services (OFS), Giannopoulos, from season 10, is seen offering the cat some water from a bottle at a building on St. Charles Street. Aw, how sweet!

"A concerned citizen [called] to report a [cat] was panicking on a hot black roof clawing at a window trying to get inside," tweeted OFS.

"@OttFire Firefighters rescued the cat & gave it some water. Some caring residents got the [cat] some milk & our partners @OttawaBylaw tried to locate the owner."

Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) pulled off a heroic rescue after someone was found unconscious in a vehicle hanging off a ledge above the Rideau River on Friday evening.

At around 8:30 p.m., OFS received a call from the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) about a vehicle collision on Bank Street and Riverside Drive, according to a press release sent to Narcity.

On July 10, the fire service tweeted that they responded to a fire, which started on a deck, at Bayview Drive around 3 a.m. Responders said the blaze "extended up the side of the bungalow into the attic."

Firefighters in Ottawa saved two people who tried to rescue their own beloved pet from the middle of a strong current on Monday — and it was all caught on camera.

According to a series of tweets from Ottawa Fire Services, firefighters attended a call to rescue two people who had fallen through the ice on the Rideau River when they tried to go after their dog in the Manotick area on March 21.
