Chris Saccoccia, better known as Chris Sky, has announced that he is planning to run for Toronto mayor during a rally held at Queen's Park over the Family Day long weekend.

Sky is most commonly known for his involvement with anti-mask, anti-lockdown and anti-vaxxer movements during the first waves of COVID-19. His announcement comes just a few days after John Tory resigned as mayor of Toronto after he admitted to an affair with a former staffer.

An exchange at Queen's Park between Ontario Premier Doug Ford and John Fraser, MPP for Ottawa South and interim leader of the Ontario Liberal party, ended abruptly on Thursday after Ford was instructed to retract some of his hot takes on the federal government.

Fraser found himself on the receiving end of Ford's remarks after denouncing the premier's refusal to participate in the Emergencies Act inquiry, an investigation into the city of Ottawa's weeks-long occupation by protesters last winter.

On Thursday, Mayor John Tory issued a warning to the incoming Toronto truckers convoy, telling protesters not to block off the access to the city's hospitals, as the protest is expected to head to Queen's Park over the weekend.

A protest, dubbed "Convoy for Freedom Toronto," is reportedly scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 5, affecting areas throughout the GTA including Vaughan Mills, Scarborough Town Centre, Yorkdale Mall, Square One, Sherway Gardens, and a Tim Hortons in Oakville.

As the province announced on September 1 that Ontario is getting vaccine certificates, people started to protest against vaccination certification at Queen's Park and were heard shouting "no vax pass" and "I want my freedom back."

Protesters were seen carrying signs, including ones that read "coercion is not consent," "vaccine mandates violate bodily autonomy," and "no to vaccine mandates."
