Blue Mountain Village is a charming pedestrian village at Blue Mountain Resort near Collingwood. Located under 3 hours from Toronto, the destination is a top getaway spot with cobblestone streets, lively patios, unique shops and a range of outdoor activities.
It was my first time visiting the region in the summer, and I discovered a whole new side of the Village that’s just as enchanting as its winter appeal. The Village was alive with outdoor music, bustling patios and lush greenery.
The cobblestone streets are lined with alpine-style buildings that will have you feeling like you're visiting Whistler or Mont Tremblant.
Blue Mountain is a year-round destination, offering warm and cold-weather activities. During the summer, there are endless experiences to enjoy, from ziplining to aerial courses and more.
I used the Full Access Ticket, which allowed me unlimited access to the activities at the resort. It's a great way to experience all that Blue Mountain has to offer, and it means you can enjoy your top activities multiple times.
The Ridge Runner Mountain Coaster.Madeline Forsyth | Narcity
One of my favourite attractions has to be the Ridge Runner Mountain Coaster. The first of its kind in the province, the coaster features a 1-kilometre track that winds its way down the mountain, past towering trees and lush greenery. It can reach speeds of up to 42 kilometres an hour, but feels so much faster as you're navigating sharp turns and twists.

I also loved the open-air gondola rides. During the warmer months, one of the ski lifts is transformed into a gondola experience, which takes you up to the top of the mountain. The ride made me feel like I was flying and offered stunning views of the village and Georgian Bay beyond. At the top, I took some time to wander along the scenic hiking trails before catching a ride back down.

Another fun experience to check out is the Coca-Cola Mill Pond Activity Centre, where you can ride giant aqua trikes around the water. It's a relaxing way to experience the village and soak up the beautiful views from the pond.
There's a lot more to enjoy, including the Blue Mountain Beach, zip line, aquatic centre, Canopy Climb Net Adventure, and high ropes.

Lines can get long at peak times — I spent nearly an hour waiting for the mountain coaster on Saturday afternoon. But showing up at 9 a.m. the next day meant no line at all, and I managed to ride twice before breakfast. The difference in timing completely changed the experience, so it's a good idea to arrive early if you can.
I also enjoyed wandering along the cobblestone streets and popping into the quaint shops. The Village offers a diverse range of amenities, from clothing stores and art galleries to an arcade and more. Some highlights include the Blue Mountain Duck Co., where you can find Ontario's largest selection of rubbed ducks, and Georgian Christmas, a year-round Christmas store spreading holiday cheer.

Blue Mountain Village has many restaurants and cafes where you can grab a treat or sit down for a meal. If you're craving pizza, Firehall Pizza Co. is the place to be, offering a range of pies and other dishes.
One of my favourite spots for a dinner out is Magnone's Italian Kitchen. A big bowl of pasta and a fancy cocktail are exactly what I needed after a full day of exploring.

I also love Royal Majesty Espresso Bar Bakery, a cozy cafe with specialty drinks and treats.
Food in the village can get pricey, so if you’re staying more than a night, it’s worth packing a few snacks or breakfasts to balance things out.

I stayed at the Westin Trillium Blue Mountain by Marriott, which is located right in the village and offers beautiful views of the scenery. Being so close made it super easy to dip in and out of activities without much planning. The hotel was really comfortable and made it so easy to relax and unwind. If you’re looking for different options, there are also Airbnbs and other rentals scattered around the surrounding area.

Just a few minutes from the village is the town of Collingwood, with its heritage buildings, boutiques, and eateries. I popped in before heading home and was glad I did — it’s a lovely side trip if you’re looking to round out your weekend.
Blue Mountain isn't just a summer destination. The fall brings a new kind of magic, with vibrant colours and experiences like the Apple Harvest Festival. During the wintertime, the area offers snowy weather activities like skating and skiing, as well as a Christmas event called Holiday Magic at Blue.

By the end of the weekend, I had done a little of everything — rides, walks through the Village, coffee breaks, and even a quick stop in Collingwood. Even though I'd only been gone for a weekend, I felt like it had been much longer, as I'd been able to enjoy so much at Blue Mountain. It was definitely a highlight of my summer, and I can't wait until my next visit.
