As COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Ontario, Premier Doug Ford has announced that he will be taking further action.

In a press conference on Wednesday, Ford announced that even more restrictions could be coming to COVID-19 hotspots, including Toronto, Peel and York.

While he has not gone into full detail about exactly what residents can expect, he does state that we could head into another lockdown.

"Right now, we are staring down the barrel of another lockdown in these regions," the premier states.

Ford says that new measures could be announced in the coming days.

"We expect new measures to be discussed at cabinet and announced in the coming days."

"My friends, we need to hunker down," Ford concluded.

The move comes after Mayor John Tory has also called for more restriction in Toronto.

The mayor recommends measures such as limiting the number of people in shopping centres.
