If you were hoping to cross the Canada-U.S. border before Christmas, you may need to rethink your plans.

According to a new report from CBC News, travel restrictions between the two countries are set to be extended for the eighth time.

This means the border would remain closed until at least December 21, just days before Christmas.

The current restrictions were set to end on Saturday, November 21.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau previously made it clear that he would not consider restarting travel between the two countries until America’s COVID-19 cases were more stable.

With the country reporting record-breaking figures this month, it’s perhaps unsurprising that the travel situation would remain unchanged.

The restrictions mean that almost all non-essential travel between the two countries is prohibited, with a few exemptions.

According to CBC News, a formal announcement is expected to be shared later this week.
