Exciting news, sports fans! Toronto is officially getting a WNBA team that'll be playing in the city as soon as 2026 and there have been some unique and hilarious names floated around for what they should be called.

On social media, people have been using the opportunity to make fun of Toronto and Torontonians in general.

"You know how there's a Toronto FC, how about Toronto FU, because FU Toronto why should you be the only Canadian city with pro basketball teams?!" wrote one person on Reddit.

Another shared a similar sentiment about what people from outside of Toronto think of us city folks.

"The Toronto Universe," they wrote. "People from the rest of Canada often believe that people from Toronto think they are the centre of the universe."

"How about the Toronto Traffic cuz, obviously..." suggested another, with one person recommending the team be called "The Toronto Housing Bubble."

"Toronto Trash Pandas - for Toronto's unofficial city animal," one user wrote, which honestly is pretty darn funny and would inspire all kinds of fan loyalty and art.

"On the one hand, I want the Toronto WNBA team to have its own identity and stand on its own," someone tweeted on X. "On the other, Toronto RaptHERS is right there."

"Toronto Velocity! Both teams = VelociRaptors," tweeted another, which is actually quite a cute tie-in for both of Toronto's basketball teams.

Given that there are still two years until the team is set to play, these should have ample time to come up with an exciting name!

The Toronto team will be the 14th for the WNBA and will play at the Coca-Cola Coliseum at Exhibition Place and may occasionally play at the Scotiabank Arena, according to the Associated Press.
