Another airline will now cover your costs if you catch COVID-19 while travelling. WestJet's free travel insurance now covers select flights to the U.S., the U.K., Mexico and the Caribbean.

WestJet is the latest airline to join the ranks in offering to pay traveller expenses in the event that people fall sick outside of Canada, according to the company.

Canada’s second-largest airline will now offer complimentary COVID-19 insurance for eligible passengers until August 31, 2021.

$200,000 WestJet's enhanced COVID-19 travel insurance coverage

WestJet’s free insurance plan initially didn't cover trips to the States, but now it does.

The airline announced on September 25 that those travelling to, through or from the United States can now get their hands on the airline's enhanced $200,000 coverage for flight and vacation reservations.

The coverage typically lasts up to 21 days for travel before or on August 31, 2021.

For one-way travel reservations, coverage is available for up to seven days.

Air Canada is also offering complimentary emergency medical and quarantine insurance for travellers taking round-trip international flights.
