If you've been wanting to travel but have been scared of possibly getting COVID-19 while out of the country and the costs associated with that, this could ease your mind.

Air Canada announced that there will be complimentary COVID-19 emergency medical and quarantine insurance for travellers that buy seats on round-trip international flights.

It's available for all new bookings made in Canada from September 17 to October 31 as long as your trip is completed by April 12, 2021.

Every international destination that the airline flies to is covered with this.

This is supposed to give people added confidence when booking flights and going abroad.

All Canadian residents can get it but there are some eligibility requirements like the travel dates, needing a provincial or territorial government health insurance plan and having the trip not last longer than 21 days.

There is no age restriction though.

It is important to keep in mind even with insurance, the government of Canada still has an advisory in place that recommends avoiding all non-essential travel out of the country.

With this plan, you can get up to $200,000 for medical expenses associated with COVID-19 treatment.

Up to $150 per person per day for quarantine costs like meals and accommodations is provided as well.

For families, it's up to $300 per day for a maximum of 14 days.

There is also up to $500 provided for travel expenses if you have to return to Canada because a level four travel advisory has been put in place while you're in a country.

According to the airline, this is the most extensive coverage by a Canadian airline because it covers every single destination.

Air Canada Vacations is also offering free insurance to people if they get COVID-19 while travelling but it's only for select destinations in Mexico and the Caribbean.

Canada's active cases of COVID-19 reached more than 8,000 on September 16 with more than half in just two provinces.
