Air Canada passengers in Ontario are about to get another mode of transportation to Toronto Pearson International Airport.

On Wednesday, Air Canada announced it will soon offer a "luxury" bus service for passengers from Waterloo and Hamilton and shared how the new service will work.

In a news release, the airline says it has partnered with The Landline Company to connect airports in Hamilton and Waterloo Region with the airline's Toronto Pearson global hub.

"The multimodal service will begin operating as a pilot project from John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport and the Region of Waterloo International Airport in May 2024, with the potential to make it available elsewhere in Canada in the future," the release says.

Landline will operate six, non-stop round trips every day from the Hamilton and Waterloo airports to Pearson.

"Air Canada customers beginning their journey at Hamilton or Region of Waterloo airports will check in as normal for their flight and obtain boarding passes for all segments of their trip," the release explains.

Once they board the Air Canada bus, passengers will have their bags loaded onboard. As soon as they arrive at Pearson in Toronto, customers will go through security screening while their checked bags will be "automatically transferred to the onward connecting flight."

In an emailed response, Air Canada told Narcity there is no flat fee for the bus service and the cost will be included in the passenger's overall fare.

"It will be as if you just buy a normal airline ticket with a connecting flight and pay one total price. On some journeys, it could cost nothing additional to use Landline. At other times, it will cost additional. Our pricing is end-to-end," the Air Canada spokesperson said.

Each bus has 36 leather seats and is equipped with free WiFi and a tray table. There is an overhead storage section where passengers can store their bags during the trip. There will be an onboard lavatory as well.

Even though the service won't kick off until May, passengers can start making their bookings now.
