If you're up for a winter road trip from Alberta, then this tiny mountain town might be just the place. Ranked as one of the best places to visit this February, it's a cozy town full of things to do.

U.S. News released its list of the Best Places to Visit in February 2025, which was crafted by weighing factors like "sights, weather, traveler sentiment and annual events."

Everything from beach towns to mountain escapes filled the list, and Big Sky, Montana came in at seventh place. The famous destination is known for it's legendary views, skiing, and winter fun.

From the border crossing station in Coutts, Alberta it's about a five-and-a-half-hour drive to Big Sky, which takes you past beautiful scenery. The destination is one of a kind, as it's home to one of the biggest ski resorts in the U.S.

The ranking said to "be sure to add winter fly-fishing, a sleigh ride dinner at Lone Mountain Ranch and the Best in the West Showdown – a skijoring competition – to your itinerary."

Even in the height of the season with top-tier snow Big Sky is big enough that it's known to feel less crowded than other resorts.

While it's famous for its slopes theres a ton to so here, and there's also access to Yellowstone National Park. Then there's dog sledding, snowshoeing, ice skating and sleigh rides.

The mountain village here is also full of cute boutiques and cozy shops — perfect for an afternoon of wandering around.

A trip here means exploring the great outdoors, hitting the slopes, and enjoying après in one of the most popular ski destinations around.

If you're up for the road trip, Big Sky is a pretty unreal destination.
