The participants have been selected at random and, according to CBC News, 48,000 test kits are being sent out.

Statistics Canada says that participation is totally voluntary and you can choose not to participate, even if it arrives in your mailbox with your name on it.

If you do want to participate, you need to fill out the questionnaire, prick your finger, and return the "dried blood spot sample" using the prepaid postage that's included with your package.

This test is for all Canadians, even those who have never tested positive for COVID-19

You'll be asked for your health card number and personal identifiers like your name and address in order to confirm the validity of the sample.

After its confirmed, all the files that link the sample to you will be destroyed and it will be completely anonymous.
