Joe Biden Is Asking Americans Not To Bully People Who Are Still Wearing Masks
Biden wants Americans to treat eachother with "kindness."
On May 13, the CDC updated its health guidelines for COVID-19 in the U.S. The update amended mask and physical distancing rules to say that fully vaccinated Americans are now exempt in many situations.
Joe Biden posted a tweet shortly after saying "After a year of hard work and so much sacrifice, the rule is now simple: get vaccinated or wear a mask until you do."
If you're fully vaccinated, you can now go mask-less in most settings.\n\nBut remember: it\u2019s going to take time for everyone who wants to get vaccinated to get their shots, and some vaccinated people prefer masks. So please, if you see someone with a mask, treat them with kindness.pic.twitter.com/IRcYe2El4e— President Biden (@President Biden) 1621106101
Days later on May 15, the president posted another message to Americans asking that they be kind to those who are still wearing masks.
"But remember: it's going to take time for everyone who wants to get vaccinated to get their shots, and some vaccinated people prefer masks. So please, if you see someone with a mask, treat them with kindness," he wrote.
While the CDC has updated the guidelines, there are still circumstances in which fully vaccinated people should still wear masks and physical distance like in businesses and workplaces with specific health orders in place.
