Police say there are no reports of serious injuries after a crash involving a semi-truck and trailer, a bus and several other vehicles that forced the closure of Highway 99 in both directions in south Surrey, B.C., on Friday.

Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton with the Surrey Police Service says one person has been taken to hospital with minor injuries, while responders were working to clear a significant backlog of vehicles.

Houghton says it appears the semi-truck crossed over into incoming traffic and investigators were working to determined why that happened.

He did not provide further information about the number and types of vehicles involved in the crash.

The DriveBC website shows the northbound lanes of Highway 99 remained closed between the Highway 91 interchange and King George Boulevard in south Surrey, while one southbound lane had reopened.

BC Emergency Health Services did not immediately respond to a request for details about its response to the crash on Friday.
