TikTokers In Edmonton Discovered A Massive Graffiti Tunnel Hidden Underground (VIDEO)

Who knew!
Contributor

A couple of adventuring Edmontonians have taken the internet by storm. A TikTok user just blew the lid off an awesome secret spot in town. Thanks to the video posted on May 25, we finally got the scoop about a secret Edmonton graffiti tunnel you may never have heard of.

Narcity spoke to Carl Cachuela, the man behind this TikTok phenomenon, and he told us how he came across this cool tunnel.

He told us how he found the place and what he looked out for along the way.

The trail to the hidden tunnel begins from Mullen Crest Road. The path will lead Anthony Henday Drive, and the tunnel is set right underneath the road.

Cachuela said that the location itself wasn't that hard for him to get to. "But the actual path inside the 'tunnel' is kinda tricky cause you’ll have to hike up a bit and it was a really steep hill," he said.

Cachuela said that he's known about this little place "since forever" but only recently decided to venture out into the tunnel with his friends.

His friends Chelsea White and Nikko Acebedo helped him find the location and are also seen in the TikTok video

Cachuela said that he isn't a photographer by profession but he got really inspired by travel bloggers and influencers in L.A.

It's safe to say that this display of creativity has won the hearts of TikTok users across the country.

The video was posted on Monday, May 25 but it has already racked up over 13,500 views at the time of writing.

There's just something so special about unknown abandoned sites, especially ones that are plastered with colourful graffiti.

"I chose this location because I know over the past few years people have been putting so many cool graffiti," he said.

Cachuela used a combination of his parents' old camera and his drone to capture the scenes at this tunnel.

On May 27, Cachuela also posted a Part 2 version of the TikTok video as well.

Edmonton has its share of natural wonders that everyone knows and loves, but who knew there was a graffiti art scene thriving under our busy roads?

Narcity spoke to a City of Edmonton representative, Kris Berezanski, who told us that the tunnel is under the jurisdiction of the province.

He also said that there is another common name used for this tunnel: the Whitemud Creek arch structure.

Berezanski said, "I am unsure if the public can access it."
