Mayor Tory The issue of sick pay has been in the news for months now, with Toronto's top doctor recently saying it was "essential" that Ontario give people 10 sick days so people could afford to stay home if they felt unwell. However, at a press conference this morning, Premier Doug Ford said the Federal government had enough money to provide adequate sick pay — referring to the CSRB — and that Ontario didn't need to "jump in." But Mayor Tory said he "respectfully disagreed" with the Premier's take on the issue. It doesn't matter to essential workers which level of government provides the fix, he said. Tory emphasized that it was just important for someone to step up and "accept the responsibility" for fixing the problem. "What we've got right now is what I've described before as this ping pong game that goes on," Tory said. "Nobody's doing it now, and that's not a satisfactory situation."
