One Ontario region will be moving to the red zone after reporting "concerning trends" in COVID-19 cases. 

The Ontario government announced on Thursday night that Timiskaming Health Unit will be entering the red as of Friday, March 26 at 12:01 a.m.

The region has currently been in the yellow zone since March 22. 

The government states that the region is moving backwards after their case rate increased by 700%. 

"As a result of a rapid worsening in trends of key health indicators in the Timiskaming region, we are making the difficult but necessary decision to immediately move the region to a new level with stronger public health measures in place," said Christine Elliott, Minister of Health.
