Mr. Potato Head Is Going Gender-Neutral & Will Have A New Name

The renamed toy is hitting shelves this year.

You may have seen the toy on shelves and even in Disney's "Toy Story," but it looks like the toy line previously known as "Mr. Potato Head" will have a new identity this year.

Hasbro, the company responsible for the spud toys, announced Thursday that the toy brand is going gender-neutral, and will now just be called "Potato Head."

The company said the toy, which has been around for nearly 70 years, needed a "modern makeover," and plans to make the changes to the toy's packaging this year.

The rebrand comes with a new toy set that will allow kids to build their own fully customizable potato family.

Hasbro also says fans of the iconic Mr. and Ms. Potato Head duo will not have to say goodbye to the characters, as they will still able to purchase them in their own separate toy sets.
