Ryan, let's chat.🥚

Ryan's Scrambled Eggs from Tim Hortons. Right: Ryan Reynolds

I tried Ryan Reynolds' new breakfast item on the Tim Hortons menu and I was quite surprised.

Writer

I recently tried Ryan Reynolds' new breakfast item on the Tim Hortons menu, and honestly – it took me by surprise. If you didn't already know, the Deadpool actor recently announced a collaboration with Timmies, called 'Ryan's Scrambled Eggs'.

This new launch piqued my interest immediately (I love a good breakfast from Tim's), but have to admit that I was a bit pessimistic about how good it would be. Scrambled eggs when done wrong is a nightmare, and ordering it at a fast-food spot felt like I was asking for a poor start to the day.

One thing I knew for sure was that it couldn't have been worse than when I tried the viral 'Wayne Gretzky'.

Heads up to anyone looking to try out the new breakfast — go early! They stop serving Ryan's Scrambled Eggs at 11 a.m. (something I didn't know when I first tried to order at lunchtime).

It was slightly embarrassing at the checkout, but I ordered a double-stacked farmer's wrap and walked out with my tail between my legs.

On Thursday morning, I was determined not to make another time mistake. I arrived at my local store in Toronto at 10:30 a.m. for good measure.

What to order

You can order either Ryan’s Scrambled Eggs in a Loaded Breakfast Box or in a Scrambled Egg Loaded Wrap. However, you have to choose between sausage or bacon. I went for the former.

The scrambled eggs are also served with hash browns and topped off with Tims' chipotle sauce. Both limited edition items are $5.59.

They're also only available in select Tim Hortons stores, so make sure to go to a participating location and get them while they last!

They're actually fresh

I didn't realize there were a few options for the Vancouverite's new breakfast addition. After a few seconds of deliberating, I selected the loaded box with the sausage instead of bacon.

The store was busy then, and the server informed me that I'd have to wait a few minutes while the eggs were being cooked. That reassured me that Tims wasn't lying when they said the eggs were freshly cracked.

The presentation

When the scrambled eggs were ready, the steam was rising off them, which was a good sign that they weren't cold and soggy. The only complaint? The portion size wasn't super big.

I brought my box home and prepared to dig in.

The verdict is in — Canada's Golden Boy strikes again

When I opened the box, I was surprised. The presentation was better than expected, as I thought it would be far messier.

The scrambled eggs were perfect — firm but not too hard that they risked being rubbery.

The sausage was delicious. I expected it to be a flat sausage, but the crumble mixed throughout the scrambled eggs was very tasty.

The hash browns were excellent, too. There's always a fear with hash browns that they will be cooked beforehand and become hard, stale, and soggy. These, though, were crispy and full of flavour.

Nevertheless, the winner was the chipotle sauce. You could put their chipotle sauce on anything, and it would enhance it.

All in all, I enjoyed it. Thanks Ryan!
