BC's Quaint Hobbit Home Village Is Perfect For Summer Road Trips

Back to "the Shire."
Contributor

Are you aching to get out and explore the province this summer but don't have a good place to stay? If so, then be sure to check out this adorable little village of dome homes in B.C. Whether you're a short, barefoot traveller passionate about breakfast or an aspiring young wizard, these rentals are perfect for your summer plans.

The Domes in Denver, B.C. are probably some of the most unique stays out there. While they may be a bit of a trek from the city — it's about an eight-hour drive from Vancouver or four from Kelowna — the unforgettable architecture and stunning location makes them worth the journey.

The four eco-friendly cabins are set in the tiny town of New Denver, right beside Slocan Lake and bordered by mountains and three different provincial parks to explore. With this setting and these buildings, you'll be waking up thinking you've been transported to Middle Earth.

The domes sleep between three to four people. Most are open concept except for the giant two-storey dome that can fit up to six people.

On the inside, the domes look like more comfortable igloos with their curved, colourful walls and vibrant furnishings.

On the outside, they look like straight-up dragon eggs. Each of the cabins also come with a garden patio to relax on as you soak up the sun.

If you can't leave home without your fur baby, you'll be happy to know that they allow pets as well, as long as you don't leave them alone at home outside a kennel. They cost $18 a night.

Surrounded by tons of activities like hiking, fishing, scuba diving, and more, you'll never be bored staying in these funky cabins.

If you're looking for an excuse to get out and explore the interior this summer, these little homes might be the ones for you.
