Caitlyn Jenner Is Officially Running For Governor Of California
Governor Gavin Newsom is likely facing a recall election.

Former Olympian and Keeping Up With The Kardashians star Caitlyn Jenner has officially tossed her hat in the ring for governor of California.
The 71-year-old made the official announcement on Twitter, saying "for the past decade, we have seen the glimmer of the Golden State reduced by one-party rule that places politics over progress and special interests over people."

The announcement comes as current California Governor Gavin Newsom, likely faces a recall election this year following criticism of his COVID-19 pandemic response.
"Small businesses have been devastated because of the over-restrictive lockdown," said Jenner. "This isn't the California we know. This is Gavin Newsom's California, where he orders us to stay home but goes out to dinner with his lobbyist friends."
The Hill reports Jenner now joins a fairly small list of other Republicans running against Newsom, including former San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer, businessman John Cox and former Representative Doug Ose.
