People shared the 'most Canadian' baby names and you might not expect the number one name
It got pretty patriotic! 🇨🇦

Baby in a hospital.
There are a few very common baby names these days, like Olivia, Noah, Amelia, Liam and Emma.
But what about the "most Canadian" ones? Well, we found out which baby names are quintessentially Canadian.
On the Narcity and MTL Blog Facebook pages, we asked, "What is the most Canadian baby name you've heard?"
There have been almost 500 comments on those posts as people revealed more than 30 names.
Here are the "most Canadian" baby names, according to Canadians:
- Gord
- Maple
- Justin
- Pierre
- Doug
Someone said, "Are all these Gord comments a joke? I've never once met anyone named Gord in my life while living in Canada."
But a lot of Canadians responded that they know people named Gord and listed a bunch of famous Canadians with that name, including Gord Downie, Gordie Howe, and Gordon Lightfoot.
Quite a few people said Justin Trudeau and Pierre Poilievre are reasons why those first names are the "most Canadian."
After the top five, the next most commented Canadian names are Bob, Beaver, Terry, Wayne and Genevieve.
People commented that Bob and Doug are Canadian names because of Bob and Doug McKenzie, fictional brothers from the "Great White North" sketch on SCTV.
Terry could be a reference to Terry Fox.
A few people commented that Beaver is a baby name they've heard of, which makes sense since it's an official symbol of Canada's sovereignty.
Some people said Moose, Ryan, Tim, Winter, Jean and Jacques are the "most Canadian" names.
Tim could be a reference to Tim Hortons, a Canadian classic, and the hockey player it's named after.
These are the Canadian baby names that only got mentioned once or twice: River, Autumn, Francois, Celine, Hudson, Louise, Alberta, Renee, Avril, Stanley, Trea, Regina, Breton, Jasper, and Guy.
Recently, Nameberry shared the top middle names for babies in 2025 and "grandpa middle names" are popular for girls.
A few of the most Canadian baby names that people told Narcity about could also be grandpa middle names.
