One Ontario city is creating love and unity in a unique way during difficult times.

Neon hearts in downtown Kingston are shining from store windows, reminding passers-by to Love Kingston, Love Local and Support Local.

The luminous hearts were purchased by The Tourism Working Group, and Downtown Kingston! BIA and Tourism Kingston helped distribute them to local stores at the beginning of December.

Downtown Kingston! BIA told Narcity that the core message behind the symbols is love and unity.

"Multiple people and businesses have reached out to say that seeing the hearts makes them so happy," Downtown Kingston! said in an email.

"Knowing we are contributing to love and happiness is a wonderful feeling."

Downtown Kingston! hopes that businesses will keep the hearts up for as long as possible to continue to spread love.
