This 1.2 km skating trail in Ontario lets you glide around a starlit cranberry marsh

You can skate through a winter wonderland.

Lead Writer, Travel

Skating doesn't get more magical than this. Ontario has a dreamy ice trail that winds through a frozen cranberry marsh and it's like something out of a winter fairy tale.

You can glide around glistening acres of cranberries and even skate beneath a canopy of stars at this spot.

Muskoka Lakes Farm & Winery, nestled in the cozy town of Bala, is home to a 1.2 kilometre ice trail that loops around snow-covered berry beds.

The experience takes you past 12 acres of frozen cranberries as well as a glistening forest so you can enjoy all the beautiful winter views.

Things get even more magical on Saturday nights, when the trail is lit with 400 torches and shimmering stars.

The farm even offers pond hockey on a 1-acre frozen cranberry bog, so get ready to score some goals.

After your skating adventure, you can warm up by private fire pits and indulge in cozy treats like fondue on the patio. You can also find hot mulled wine or hot cran-apple cider at the winery.

Skate rentals are available at the farm, and it's recommended that visitors bring a helmet.

The skating experiences are weather-dependant, so be sure to check for updates before heading out.

The farm offers several other snowy-season activities such as snowshoeing, so if you're looking for a magical winter outing, this destination is worth checking out.
