The CEO of Cineplex said on Thursday that he had offered his movie theatres to be used as Ontario vaccination sites.

In an interview with the Canadian Press, Ellis Jacob said he's reached out to public health agencies across the country to offer his cinema's services in the fight against COVID-19.

Jacob said he had talked to Premier Doug Ford as part of his proposal.

Narcity reached out to the Premier's office for comment but did not hear back by publication time.

Cineplex owns 164 theatres across Canada, and Jacob said the company's locations in small towns across the country could come in handy.

Jacob said that while no decisions have been made on using his theatres, he thought health officials were very interested in his offer.

In a company report posted on Thursday, February 11, Jacob called Canada's vaccine rollout "inconsistent."

"There can be no assurance that vaccines will be widely available or distributed as currently anticipated, which would delay a return to normalcy," Jacob wrote.
