This small town in Ontario is brimming with Scottish charm, and you can get there from Ottawa in an hour — no car required.

Strolling through the streets of this quaint town you'll be transported overseas, and likely be tempted to skip the bus ride home and stay forever.

The historic town of Perth will whisk you away to Edinburgh, thanks to its Scottish heritage and inspired architecture.

Anyone living in Ottawa is lucky, because it's only a $18.99 hour-long bus ride from our nation's capital, and it's all thanks to FlixBus.

The small riverside town of Perth feels, looks, and smells like someone cut out a small part of Scotland and placed it in the middle of the Ottawa Valley.

Be prepared for historic stone brick buildings lined up along rivers and canals, and get ready for some picturesque views that'll make you question how far you really travelled.

Perth makes for a perfect day trip, with buses coming either way multiple times a day. You can choose to depart from either Pinecrest Mall in West Nepean or the parking lot of Canada Gas at 500 Terry Fox Dr. in Kanata.

Once you get to Perth, you've taken some time to walk around and take in the sights, such as the Perth Museum, the Crystal Palace, or "The Mammoth Cheese," an over-a-century-old block of cheese that the dairy farmers of Perth sent to the Chicago World Fair in 1896.

For a cup of coffee with a view, Coutts Coffee Roastery & Cafe is the place to go. It has a wooden terrace looking out at the iconic Tay's Canal, and you'll feel like you're at a coffee shop much further away from home than you actually are.

If you're an enjoyer of guzzling down brewski after brewski, perhaps head on over to the Perth Brewery and grab yourself a "Last Duel Lager", which is said to honour the last ever legal fatal dual in Canada, which occurred in 1833. You can even take a six-pack home with you for the incredibly reasonable price of $20.70.

Perth is great for those times when you want to get out of the city but don't have the budget to go too far. It's perfect for a romantic day trip or even a weekend getaway and a great place to spend the day with the squad.
