Just before 9:30 a.m., police announced that the Ottawa baby who went missing on Friday, June 4, has been found "safe and sound."

There is one person currently in custody in connection with the abduction of 11-month-old Abby Mathewsie, who is now receiving medical attention, according to police.

The initial Amber Alert about her disappearance was sent around 3:50 a.m. on Friday, saying that Mathewsie was last seen at 1:55 a.m. However, Ottawa Police later clarified on Twitter that the baby was last seen with her mother at around 11:12 p.m. on June 3. She went missing from the Carling Avenue and Pinecrest Road area.

The Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit was called to investigate the incident and the OPS Emergency Services Unit conducted a ground search of the area. A photo of a woman who may be a witness was supplied in the hopes that the public could help identify her.

The investigation is ongoing and police say updates will be provided.
