Toronto delivered the good vibes on World Wish Day (April 29) at Jack Astor’s Scarborough, where Raptors forward Chris Boucher reunited with a very special fan — 13-year-old Henry Thompson, a Make-A-Wish Ambassador and leukemia survivor who once served as GM of the Toronto Raptors for a day.
Henry, a devoted Raptors fan, was diagnosed with leukemia just before his 6th birthday. His wish during his 3.5-year-long treatment was to step into the shoes of a Raptors exec, and with the help of Make-A-Wish Canada, it came true.
He rolled up to Scotiabank Arena in a limo, met his favourite players, shot hoops and even did a media scrum. His wish wasn't just granted; it was full-court legendary.
Henry's heartwarming reunion with Boucher was in celebration of Jack Astor’s and Make-A-Wish Canada, including the launch of a New Kids Menu Charity Partnership Program that'll make a huge difference.
Henry helped Boucher debut some of the new menu items at a fun-filled cooking class and meet-and-greet that brought out families, foodies and Raptors fans alike.
Over 3,700 children with critical illness are waiting to have their wishes fulfilled, and every order from the Jack Astor's Kids menu sees a portion of the proceeds go to Make-A-Wish Canada. There are no extra steps — it's just good food doing good things.
Make-A-Wish Canada has granted over 40,000 wishes since 1983, and they just marked the milestone in a big way — by opening the Toronto Stock Exchange to wrap up World Wish Month.
Thanks to supporters like Jack Astor’s (they raised over $70,000 just last holiday season), even more kids will experience the power of a wish. If you are looking for additional ways to support you can always round up your bill at Jack Astor's to the next dollar as well.
